Industry 4.0 in practice: Thuringian companies visit QUNDIS

On Thursday evening QUNDIS provided a look behind the scenes at its cutting-edge, fully networked production facility in Erfurt. Around 30 representatives of Thuringian companies were invited as guests and took part in the discussion on Industry 4.0.

Industry 4.0 is currently a hot topic everywhere, including the Free State of Thuringia. However, exactly what do we understand by the term, and how is it implemented with regard to procurement policies in practice? In his presentation Mirko Stetefeld, head of the procurement section at QUNDIS, explained the risks and opportunities which networked production presents to the procurement operations of a mid-sized company. Representatives of Thuringian companies such as JENOPTIK, Otto Bock, Weinrich and Lindig Fördertechnik took part in the event and the discussion, and exchanged experiences on the subject of Industry 4.0. The event was organised by the Federal Association for Merchandise Management, Procurement and Logistics, in cooperation with Thuringia’s Enterprise Federation.

QUNDIS is a pioneer in the field of digitalisation. In its smart factory the company has intelligently networked the entire value creation chain, which has enabled a further improvement in product quality. With new solutions such as cloud-based recording of consumption data, QUNDIS provides the users of its products with Internet-based tools which enable significant efficiency improvements on the part of customers.
